$1 Million in Workforce Development Grants Awarded to CT Nonprofit Organizations by CHEFA

Hartford, CT, Feb 27, 2019 –The Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) announced more than $1million in grants to support Connecticut workforce development training and educational programs at the Legislative Office Building on Wednesday, Feb. 27.  State Treasurer Shawn Wooden and Senator Will Haskell were in attendance to recognize the recipients.

CHEFA Awards $75,000 to United Community and Family Services (UCFS) to support new Griswold Health Center

A new United Community and Family Services (UCFS) Griswold Health Center will become a reality on July 16, 2018.   Residents of Griswold and surrounding communities will now have a state-of–the-art facility that will provide medical, dental, and behavioral health services.  Thanks to a $75,000 CHEFA Nonprofit Grant award made in May 2018, examination rooms will have much needed equipment to serve the patients.  The new building, located at 226 East Main Street in Griswold, was the site for an official grand opening on July 9th with local officials, funders, board members and staf

Sacred Heart University, has received a $74,700 CHEFA Grant

Sacred Heart University, has received a $74,700 Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) grant to develop systematic, standardized training to evaluate patients’ ability to swallow.  Ciara Leydon,Ph.D., associate professor of speech-language pathology, will administer the new program.
