CHEFA Closes $25 million Transaction for Fairfield University

On September 10, 2020, CHEFA closed a $25 million transaction for Fairfield University.  Proceeds from the bonds will be used to construct a 75-bed residence hall for undergraduates, as well as fund various renovations for residence halls on campus. The bonds will also be used to fund equipment acquisition and installation.

CHEFA’s 2020 Grantmaking Continues Strong Commitment to CT Workforce with $1 million in Awards

In an effort to support workforce and economic development in the State of Connecticut, the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) made a major commitment to statewide workforce initiatives.  CHEFA’s Board of Directors met earlier this year and awarded FY 2020 Targeted Grants totaling $1 Million Dollars to four organizations.  The following entities and programs each received a grant in the amount of $250,000:

CHESLA Announces Lowest Student Loan Interest Rate in Program History

Hartford, CT, July 8, 2020 - The Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) announced that its my CHESLA Student Loan will have a 4.85% fixed rate for the 2020-2021 academic year. The new student loan interest rate is 10 basis points lower than the previous program low of 4.95%.

CHEFA Funds Statewide Effort to Support COVID-19 Response-Provides $3M in Assistance to Healthcare, Education, Childcare and Cultural Organizations Throughout Connecticut

Wednesday June 24, 2020-The Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) Board of Directors awarded $3M in grants as part of the newly established FY 2021 CHEFA COVID-19 Grant Program. 

Jeanette W. Weldon, CHEFA Executive Director stated, “Many Connecticut residents are suffering as a result of the COVID crisis.  These CHEFA grants will help fund critical supports and initiatives and will have impact throughout the state. We are pleased that the CHEFA Board chose to redirect our philanthropic dollars to meet this need.”

CHEFA Announces Major Statewide Grants to Support COVID-19 Response - Provides $3M to CT Healthcare, Education, Childcare and Cultural Organizations

In response to these unprecedented times, The Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) has shown its philanthropic leadership by replacing all of its typical FY 2021 grant programs with a COVID-19 Grant Program.

The CHEFA Board of Directors awarded $3M in grants at its June 17, 2020 meeting. The FY 2021 CHEFA COVID-19 Grant Program will provide funding for statewide efforts to aid Connecticut communities and residents in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Sharing Resources in a Time of Crisis: CHEFA Grant Allows Gaylord to Loan Ventilators During COVID-19

In the fall of 2018, neither Gaylord Specialty Healthcare nor Connecticut Health and Education Facilities Authority (CHEFA) could foresee how important the grant request and CHEFA’s positive decision would be 13 months into the future. Gaylord requested funds to purchase new ventilators and to create an educational video for families considering caring for a loved one at home on a ventilator.  CHEFA awarded Gaylord a $75,000 grant for that request in early 2019.
