Privacy Privacy Policy

CHEFA respects your privacy and protects it when you visit our web site. Here are some things you should know about how we protect your privacy:


  1. When you send us email, we won't keep or share your email address with anyone outside of CHEFA staff, its contractors, and other representatives necessary to respond to your question. We'll only use your email address to respond to your requests for information.
  2. If you sign up for an email list, we'll only send you the kinds of information you've requested. We won't share your email address with anyone outside of CHEFA.

Information We Collect

When you browse, read pages or download information on our public website, we automatically gather and store certain technical information about your visit. This information never identifies who you are. The information we collect and store about your visit is listed below. This information is only used to help us make the site more useful for you. With this data we learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use. We never track or record information about individuals and their visits to our public website.

  • The IP address from which you access our website (an IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer whenever you are connected to the internet)
  • The type of browser (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer) and operating system (Windows, Unix) used to access our site
  • The date and time you access our site
  • The pages you visit
  • If you linked to our website from another website, the address of that website

If you are one of our clients using our website to input data in compliance with bond covenants, you are logged in and using a restricted access area.  The data set associated with this process is more extensive and user names and passwords are issued to you specifically for this purpose. In this case, we track the above information as well as your userid, all the data you submit to us, and the date and time you logged in, submitted the data, etc. We use this information for troubleshooting purposes if you encounter any problems, as well as to ensure proper recordkeeping related to your bond issue.


Sometimes we use "cookies", which are small amounts of text stored on your computer. The cookies we use are "session cookies", which means that the data they contain are only saved for the duration of a single browser session. After you turn off your computer or stop using the internet, the cookie is erased. If you don't want us to put a "cookie" on your computer, you can turn cookies off in your browser. With cookies turned off you will be able to browse any information on the CHEFA Website, you just will not be able to use the Childcare Cost Model.

Information you enter into the Childcare Cost Model

In order to use the Childcare Cost Model you must create an account. To create an account you must supply the following information:

  • Your email address
  • Your city, state, and zip code
  • Your role (educator or consultant)

This information helps give us an idea of who's taking advantage of the tools we provide. At times we may publish aggregate statistics, but your individual details will not be shared with anyone outside of CHEFA.

Site Security

  1. We monitor visits to CHEFA's web site to identify any attempts to tamper with it.
  2. At times, we may be compelled to collect and release information in compliance with court orders, or to cooperate with law enforcement investigations. Any information we collect for these purposes is destroyed according to federal guidelines.
  3. Tampering with web sites is against the law in many countries, including the United States. Attempts to tamper with CHEFA's web site may be prosecuted under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986, the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act, and/or other applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

Links to Other Sites

  1. Our website has links to many other web sites. When you go to another site, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of that site. CHEFA cannot attest to the accuracy of information provided there.
  2. Linking to a web site does not constitute an endorsement by CHEFA, or any of its employees, of the sponsors of the site or the products presented on the site.
